Blue Topaz

Blue topaz is a specific color of the mineral topaz.
It is usually treated by the same methods used by
Mother Nature: by irradiation of the plentiful white
topaz and then heat treating to stabilize the hue and
value. Topaz has a hardness of 8, so it is extremely
wearable every day, but it can also be brittle.
It comes in many shades of blue, such as the color for
pale aqua, called "sky blue," to a very deep hue called
"London blue." It has been around since its use
by ancient civilizations. In Egypt, the yellow color
was associated with the Sun God, Ra. It was the stone
of strength (hardness) by the ancient Greeks. As legend
has it, the wearer would possess great healing strength
from such ailments as headaches and extreme tension, as
well as illnesses associated with the female gender.
It can also help with poor eyesight, overpower excessive anger, cure madness, and increase one's wisdom. Even today it is still considered the "special stone" for all women. We invite you to stop in and view the large selection of topaz that we have at Ralph Miller Jewelers.
